FULL NAME: Amanda Katherine Brocklehurst. Otherwise known as Mandy.
BLOOD STATUS: Muggleborn.
SEXUALITY: Heterosexual.
DATE OF BIRTH: November 13, 1980.
ASTROLOGY: SCORPIO; Positive traits include magnetic charisma, ambition, drive, a penetrating mind, curiosity, intensity of focus, emotional depth, consistency, persistence, willpower, and the potential for inner transformation and regeneration; negative traits include selfishness, obsessiveness, vindictiveness, hypersensitivity, ruthlessness, cynicism, an inability to understand the word "moderation," and jealousy.

APPEARANCE: Mandy is just a little taller then average, with most of her height taken up by her rather long legs, and has an odd build. It’s athletic, owing to her Quidditch – but it's also, and much to her disdain when she was developing, rather womanly. As a thirteen year old, Mandy was horrified at the prospect of developing breasts, (especially since her Aunt Rachel had absolutely none of the conflicting emotions that she had and loved to point them out on every possible occasion), but now has learned to embrace them... for the the most part.

She has light brown hair, which borders on blonde at times, and she usually wears it as it is, slightly wavy, but on occasion will curl it or straighten it, if she has the patience. Mandy has her father’s blue eyes, and there is a band of freckles across her nose, another trait of hers she has grudgingly learned to accept. She also has a wide mouth and a longish sort of nose, and while she doesn’t consider herself to be incredibly attractive, she’s fairly happy with the way she looks, all in all.

PERSONALITY: Prior to her parents divorce, Mandy was quite shy and timid, but after it she came out of her shell greatly, particularly when she came to Hogwarts, as being in such a large and intimidating place forced her to do so, lest she be lost in the crowd otherwise. She's become very confident, in some cases too over-confident, and she isn't shy about standing up for herself, or making sure she gets what she and her loved ones want, and that they aren't treated poorly.
If she could describe herself in one word, it would be "sparky", although she isn't actually sure if that's a real word. Nevertheless it's a very apt descriptor for her.

Her brother Tristan once said that she 'always looks like she's bouncing – like one of those bloody Chihuahuas or something'. Indeed, one of the foremost traits Mandy has is that she is always full of energy, both physical and mental. However, this energy does lend itself to Mandy doing things in haste, which means she has proven herself time and time again to be quite clumsy, and in fact is well known for it. About the only place she isn't clumsy is on the Quidditch pitch. Possibly thanks to the assistance of her brother, she earnt a place on the house team in her fifth year, as a Chaser.

Mandy likes to think of herself as someone who 'gets things done' and for the most part she is. However, Mandy has a tendency to fall victim to her relatively short attention span, and so it takes Mandy a great deal of perseverance and discipline for her to actually follow through finishing something once she starts. Mostly, she forces herself to finish things, knowing that in the end, the feeling of knowing she has achieved something, no matter how small gives Mandy a great rush.

Along with this short attention span, unless she really compels herself to (and she usually does) she is disorganised at best, downright messy at worst. Her bedroom at home closely resembles a disaster area, though her part of the dorm room is neater to keep her dorm mates and herself happy. What usually happens is that Mandy will let it get to a state far beyond what her mother would accept at home and then ends up feeling incredibly guilty, as if her mother is at home crying her eyes out over her ragamuffin daughter. So she'll then render her little corner spotless, and it'll stay that way for a week, at least.

As you might have guessed, mainly out of necessity Mandy is somewhat hard on herself, especially in terms of deadlines. This is because she knows if she doesn't make herself do something, then she'll procrastinate until the day before it needs to be finished, and Mandy doesn't handle stress well. When under a lot of pressure from others, or in situations of high tension, Mandy's voice has an embarrassing habit of taking on a tone similar to that of Alvin and the Chipmunks and a speed far beyond normal comprehension, and she tries to avoid that as much as possible, for obvious reasons.
One of the things she is hardest on herself with is school work. Like most Ravenclaws, she is fairly intelligent and enjoys most of her schoolwork, particularly Charms and Ancient Runes because she just has an ingrained interest in them. However, when OWLS came around in fifth year, she was one of the students who were having panic attacks and unplanned 4 am study sessions on a regular basis. The latter was much to the annoyance of her dorm mates, who didn't at all enjoy having to listen to Mandy's chipmunk-esque recital of the names and qualities of Nordic Runes over and over again.

Not that she'd ever admit it, but Mandy Brocklehurst is actually a lot like her father. Say this to Mandy however, and you'll bear the brunt of all of her ire. But nevertheless despite her protestations the fact remains that there is a lot about Mandy that can be found in Richard Brocklehurst.

For one thing, Mandy has inherited her father's short temper. Mandy is well known for going off on long rants about things that most people would just brush off, and she is quick to snap, even at those she cares about. Unlike her father however, Mandy almost always finds herself consumed with guilt and regret over what she has done or said and is usually quick to apologise. Mandy's form of apology can be a little lacking. If she is forced to apologise, it is usually quick, a muttered 'sorry' out of the corner of her mouth and no more. You can always tell when Mandy feels genuinely bad about something though, because the next time you see her after the incident, what ever it might have been, she'll just give you a doe-eyed look of concern and wait for you to say everything's alright, upon which she'll return to her normal effervescent self. Later on she might mention it in passing, but that's about all you'll get. Her friends have learnt to accept this.

They've also learnt to accept the fact that she is stubborn as daytime is long in the Arctic Circle. When Mandy thinks she's right, she will adamantly stick to that conclusion, even when you wave proof of the fact she's wrong right in her face. To her, backing down in the face of anything would be the ultimate shame.

Mandy is a bit of a 'mama bear' when it comes to those she cares about. Hurt anyone she loves, no matter how insignificantly, and you will find yourself with one hundred and thirty pounds of angry Ravenclaw in your ear, hissing about all the terrible things she's going to do to your insides if you don't 'make it right – right now!'

Despite Mandy's poor patience level and tendency to outburst, she is a genuinely friendly and rather outgoing person and sees no reason to dislike people, unless they've given her reason to do so. She enjoys being with other people, rather then being alone and is very much the extroverted, life of the party sort of person.

HISTORY:
Amanda Brocklehurst was the second child born to Richard Brocklehurst, and Wendy Jenkins, both muggles. She was born on the 13th of November and was their second child, Mandy has an older brother by four years, Tristan and a younger half-sister, Isabelle Brocklehurst, which her father had with his second wife, Diane, two years ago.

When Mandy was growing up, she and her family lived in a small house in Stoke-on-Trent, however shortly after her fifth birthday her father was promoted to partner of his firm (Richard is a lawyer), and so they moved to a larger house, however it was still in Stoke.
Before Mandy and Tristan were born, Wendy used to work as a midwife at a local hospital, however when Mandy's older brother was born, Richard insisted (and Wendy agreed, at first), that her place 'for now', should be at home. Wendy however fell pregnant again three years later, so up until her children were accepted to Hogwarts, Wendy was a stay at home mum.

As both Richard and Wendy were muggle, Mandy lived a relatively 'normal' life. She attended a local public primary school, doing rather well at school, more so then her brother, who although he was intelligent, had a tendency to accidentally turn his pencils and pens into worms to avoid math tests.

Although at first, Richard and Wendy's relationship was a good one, things began to really deteriorate when Mandy was about seven years old and her brother Tristan was 10. Over the years, Richard's work at Thomson, Brocklehurst & Day (the law firm he works at) began to take over more and more of his life, keeping him away from his family. When Wendy voiced concerns about this, Mandy's father brushed them off, and things continued to get worse. After about a year, Mandy's mother, and her mother's sister, Rachel came to suspect that Richard was having an affair. As it turns out, he was, not with a secretary (that would be too cliché!), but with an old girlfriend of his, Diane Jackson. While Rachel Jenkins was adamant they confront him (and the sooner the better), her sister Wendy Brocklehurst, was not so certain, preferring to dismiss the story they heard from one of the receptionists as a cruel rumour. But as Wendy struggled to keep her family together, Richard was busy setting up a new one of his own, and eventually the day came when he had to break the news to his wife, who was still maintaining (or at least, attempting to) the fact that her husband was just 'busy with work.'

During this time Mandy was still at primary school, and she spent most of her time imagining what her brother was doing at his 'special school.' Both Tristan and Mandy's personalities differed a great deal in response to their parents marriage break down. Mandy became hyperactive and whiny, but Tristan sunk into himself, only really coming out to taunt his sister on how great his school was, and how he was having so much fun without her. One of his favourite things to do was to bring home Chocolate Frogs from the train ride and eat them in front of Mandy. For Mandy, who had always adored her older brother, his cruel taunting was too much to bear, and on one memorable occasion was sent to stay at Aunt Rachel's, just so Wendy could get some peace from the two fighting. However, when things finally came to a head, Tristan was back at school fresh off Easter holidays, so Mandy was the only one to see what happened when her parents finally broke up.

It all happened in the spring of Tristan's second year, when Rachel talked her sister into confronting her husband. However, it was slightly too late for that, because as they were planning how exactly to go about it, Richard came in and announced to the two women that he and Diane were going to get married - and that obviously, he wanted a divorce.
The next few weeks were a blur, as far as Mandy can remember. All she can recall really is her mother crying in the kitchen over endless cups of tea, her aunt spewing diatribes about how aptly nicknamed her father was, her fathers uncomfortable smiles and Tristan sending only one owl, a letter for their father that Mandy never got to read and Richard never bothered with.

After Mandy's father moved out, despite the ever constant presence of Aunt Rachel, things continued to decline until one fateful day a few months later, when their electricity was suddenly cut off. It turned out that Wendy was over three months late with her bills, and it was then that Mandy's mother realized that she wasn't being fair on her daughter by not moving on with her life. From that point on, things began to change.

Wendy got a job, at a small private women's hospital, doing midwifery full time, and they moved out of their large house, which they couldn't really afford, into a smaller house that they shared with Wendy's sister. When Tristan came back from Hogwarts over the summer break, it was to a much happier house of women then the one he had left, and he and Mandy slowly repaired their unhappy sibling relationship, aided by the news that when Tristan was fourteen, Mandy received her Hogwarts letter.

When Mandy arrived at Hogwarts she was awestruck by just how huge the place was. Practically everything (except for the bit about yetis storming through the corridors) that Tristan had said about Hogwarts was true, and she loved it, right from the start. Like her brother, she was sorted into Ravenclaw, and fitted in well. The one part of Hogwarts she didn't really like were the Slytherins, because as her brother had explained to her, for whatever reason (Tristan tried to cobble together all that he knew about blood status, but he didn't do very well), a lot of them saw people like her and her brother as lower then them. This was something that Mandy could never, and has never come to terms with.

Still, she tried to ignore the searing glares she and others got in classes, and instead made friends, mainly with people in her own house, but she also hung around with Hufflepuffs and was on good terms with Gryffindors. She got fairly good grades (after all, she was a Ravenclaw), but she always seemed to struggle in Potions and when she was studying it, Divinations.

As for her family, unlike Tristan, Mandy chooses not to see her father as much as she probably should, mainly because although it happened so long ago, she still harbours resentment towards Diane, and because she hates the way her father acts like Mandy's mother never existed. So when Isabelle Marie Brocklehurst-Jackson (it was Diane's idea to have the double-barrelled name) was born in Mandy's fifth year, Mandy did not meet her younger sister until she was six months old.

When Tristan graduated at the end of her fourth year, he soon realized after three months at home with them that he couldn't, as much as he loved them, survive in, as he put it 'a house full of birds', especially not when he was trying to study to become an auror. He moved to a flat in Diagon Alley, and then when conditions in the magical world began to deteriorate, he moved to a flat in muggle London, with his girlfriend Polly, who is also a muggleborn witch, who works in Gladrags Wizardwear in Hogsmeade.

LIKES: Quidditch – both playing and watching, Puddlemere United, proving people wrong, reading, winning, making plans, making those plans get off the ground, tea (but only if it's hot, black and sickeningly sweet), sugar, making fun of her brother, getting letters from her brother, the smell of her mother's perfume, her Aunt Rachel, her Aunt Rachel's motorcycle, making fun of her Aunt Rachel when she's hungover, bacon sandwiches, her friends, anything at all from Honeydukes (as-long-as-there's-no-coconut-in-it), having bare feet, biting her nails, her favourite jeans (the ones with the holes in the knees), bouncing up and down on her feet, winning. She also has an incredibly overwhelming love for ABBA. Blame it on her mother.

DISLIKES: Being cooped up, hot and stuffy classrooms, cold and dank classrooms, realising things aren't going as planned, nettle wine, liking the fact she bites her nails, her Aunt Rachel's seemingly endless string of boyfriends, double Potions on Friday afternoons, cleaning her room, her mother's cat, uncomfortable clothing, carpet burns, cleaning the litter box of her mother's cat, being doubted, losing, her father, her step mother, her half-sister, chips with too much vinegar, dresses with too many frills, the ending of Little Women, things with coconut in them, her brother's ex-girlfriend Lila, people who hurt her friends. Ditto for her family.

FAMILY:
▫MOTHER: Wendy Jenkins, formerly Wendy Brocklehurst. Wendy is a fairly timid woman, however she has grown more confident since her divorce. She works as a nurse in a Muggle private hospital. Mandy regards her mother as one of the bravest people she knows.
▫FATHER: Richard Brocklehurst. Muggle real estate agent. Mandy's relationship with him is currently perfunctory. He pays child support and she graces him with her presence once or twice a year, at most. She is both very angry at and very hurt by her father, and she doesn't foresee their relationship getting any better.
▫BROTHER: Tristan Brocklehurst. 21 years old. Enrolled in the Auror training program. Mandy adores her older brother. Growing up he was her hero, and he still is to this day. Despite the four year age gap, they get on pretty well, and Mandy owls him regularly.
▫AUNT: Rachel Jenkins, Wendy's sister. When she's in the country she lives with Mandy's mother. She's extremely extroverted and a bit of a good time girl. Mandy wants to be something like Rachel when she leaves school, except with better taste in men.
▫STEP-MOTHER: Diane Brocklehurst-Jackson. Mandy refuses to look Diane in the eye when she is encountered with her. When talking about her she refers to her as 'the trollop'.
▫HALF-SISTER: Isabelle Marie Brocklehurst-Jackson. One year old. Mandy regards her with cold indifference. If you ask Mandy, she has a brother, and that's it.

BEST FRIEND: Her oldest and best friend is Terry Boot, whom she has known from a very young age, due to Mandy and Terry's mother's friendship. Her best gal pal is fellow housemate Morag MacDougal.
FRIENDS: Fellow housemates, mostly, but she's also friendly with people in other houses.
CRUSHES: Mandy nursed a ridiculously secret crush on Roger Davies for her first two years of school, until she made it onto the Quidditch team and realized what a bastard he could be. While this stopped her from ever thinking that she could actually date Roger, it didn't stop her from thinking he was dead sexy whenever he was yelling at people that weren't her. She got over it eventually, and if he ever finds this out, she will deny it vehemently.
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single.
PAST RELATIONSHIPS: Mandy doesn't kiss and tell. Mostly. If she ever got to kiss Kirley Duke from the Weird Sisters, the whole world would know about it.

FIVE RANDOM FACTS:
1. Mandy has a secret. She's secretly a huge fan of musicals, and can often be found humming various songs from Les Miserables, CATS and the like.
2. Mandy's chief alcoholic beverage of choice is anything - as long as it's mixed with raspberry. She adores raspberry.
3. Over the years spent living with her mother and aunt Mandy has become adept at two things; making cups of tea, and making hangover cures. The tea is for her mother, and the hangover cure is for her aunt Rachel, who insists that Mandy's prairie oyster (raw egg, Worcestershire sauce and Mandy's own secret ingredients) is God's own hangover cure.
4. Mandy was a bit of an early bloomer, and for the first few years after puberty hit, she absolutely hated having breasts. She was embarrassed by them, mainly because of her mother and aunt exclaiming over them at every chance. Times have since changed, and Mandy is now quite proud of 'her girls', and refers to them often in casual conversation.
5. Another secret; Mandy may claim to be tough and un-romantic, but she has a secret. When she watches muggle films with her mother, nine times out of ten, she ends up crying at the end. No body knows this, and if anyone ever found out, there'd be trouble.
